Rules and Guidelines
The following scoring system will be used to determine region seeding for state soccer tournaments: 3 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and no points for a loss. Players receiving a hard red card will be required to sit out the next regularly scheduled game at that level (varsity, J.V. etc.) and any intervening levels of play as well. Players receiving a soft red card will be required to sit out only the remainder of that game. See Sportsmanship Conduct of the Interpretation and Participation Standards section of the UHSAA Handbook. For tie games in pre-season and regular season play, the overtime procedure will be as follows: a maximum of two 10-minute “sudden victory” overtime periods will be played. If a team scores within an overtime period, that team will be declared the winner. If, at the conclusion of two 10-minute “sudden victory” overtime periods, a tie still exists, the game is declared a tie. For tie games in state tournament play, the overtime procedure will be as follows: a maximum of two 10-minute “sudden victory” overtime periods will be played. If a team scores within an overtime period, that team will be declared the winner. If, at the conclusion of two 10-minute “sudden victory” overtime periods, a tie still exists, items 3 and 4 from the tie game procedure from the National Federation Soccer Rules Book will be used (shoot out). Players may wear soft and yielding caps during inclement weather. If less than one half has been played in a contest then the game is restarted from the point of suspension. See “Suspended Game Procedure” in the Interpretation and Participation Standards section of the UHSAA Handbook for further details. |
