He was issued a second caution at the request of my assistant referee after he clipped the feet of an opposing player preventing him from getting to the ball in the 78'. He was shown his second caution, then the red and dismissed. |

As soon as the game end, Jared Anderson came onto the field yelling and screaming at me. I tried ignoring him thinking it was an angry parent, he took offense and began charging at me while screaming and yelling. At this point I realized it was a coach, I turned to him, (he at one side of the center circle and myself at the the other) held out a stop sign with both hands and stated you will be red carded if you come to me. He paused for a second and charged toward me continuing his yelling and screaming. As he entered the half circle coming toward me. I pulled out my red card, holding it down. So he could see I meant it if he came to me. He continued toward me and soon began yelling and screaming in my face. I held up the red, said nothing, turned and walked away. He continued yelling for a minute but did not follow as I walked away.
After the altercation, head coach, Fritz Beckman came over in a calm and respectful manner and we spoke with the two assistants referees by my side.
I learned the altercation occurred at the end of the game because of something I said that was taken out of context. The following leads up to and includes the incident.
During the second half #13 Mathis Burton and #10 Dallin Degroot. Stated very foul language and took shots at me as a referee.
Dallin stated the following phrase toward me throughout the second half.
2x- Your are fucking moron ref.
3x- Fuck you.
2x - You Fucking suck.
6x - This is Fucking bullshit
3x - you got to be fucking kidding me.
2x - You should Fucking go home
Mathis stated the following.
8x - You suck ref.
4x - open your eyes
4x - you can't see anything
3x - your blind
Rather than card either player for there language or dissent I decided to talk into ending the bad behavior. I asked repeatedly to stop it, told them to stop it and even blew my whistle when the ball went out of bounds to call them over and tell them to knock it off. Knowing it was the end of the season and they were frustrated being down 3-0 and eventually 4-0.
After Dallin #10 directed "fucking" this and that toward me, multiple upon multiple times I turned to his Coach Fritz as the ball was out of play and asked him to help me with #10 and #13. He did nothing and they continued the unacceptable behavior.
Looking back, after I asked the Coach Fritz to help me and the behavior continued #10 Dallin Degroot should have been Red Carded and #13 Mathis Burton should have received a yellow card. However in the moment I decided that I would try to resolve this issue without cards knowing they were frustrated and that it was the end of the season. I honestly did not want to send off a player and have him be suspended for the last high school game of his career.
As the half came to the final 10 minutes they were continuing the foul language and shots direct at me. During a stoppage of play for a corner kick one the players stated "the ref is the only reason we are not going to the playoffs" while staring directly at me. I, in return stated "no, you guys don't play soccer is the real reason." Referring to them whining about every call or no call that does not go there way. They then turned to me calling me more names using "Fuck" and stating you can not say that to us.
The corner kick comes in and they all begin to play again. They do continue the foul language directed toward me when they disagree with a call. Knowing the score is 4-0 I give them a couple of foul calls. And work my way through the remainder of the game without handing out a card.

David Rivers |
Ten seconds left in the 4th quarter. During a kick-off by East number 24 of Bonneville saw an East player engaged with another Bonneville player who was blocking on the return. The action was well away from the return play. Number 24 started from ten yards away and, at a run, closed on the East player and threw a right hand fist at the East player's head. The fist missed the helmet with the forearm catching a glancing blow to the head/neck area of the East player. The Bonneville head coach was informed of the ejection. |

BRENT WINTCH |
A sideline warning was thrown by me at Referee as both assistant and head coach were on the field yelling at me. I went over and talked to the head coach and explained that we did not see the call he was complaining about. I think it is worth noting that when I walked over to discuss the warning, the assistant coach spit in front of me.. he didn't spit on me, but it's one of those, at least in my opinion, a sign of disrespect. I reacted to the spitting as if he was going to hit me and he stated he was just spitting, wasn't trying to spit on me... after the game, he later apologized for it and again stated he meant no disrespect. To continue, David Rivers was the Lineman at that time and just after I spoke to the coach, he threw the 1st Unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for the assistance coach's continued jabs. Shortly after administering the 1st penalty, David threw the 2nd UC penalty as coach would still not stop. I advised the head coach that the assistant must leave the field. It took him several minutes to leave the field, but eventually, He then went over behind the fence near the bleachers and watched the rest of the 1st half. We wanted to continue the game and did. At half-time, we asked the head coach to make sure that the assistant would need to leave the stadium which he did. We continued the game without incident from the Bonneville sideline.
