This was a red for a second caution. The first caution was in the 55 minute for UB a late careless challenge. #3 left his feet early and jumped into the opponent missing the ball and striking the player in the mid section as he came down. It was careless and there was no argument. The second caution came in the 82 minute and was also for UB #3 went up with a very careless high foot and kicked the opponent in the face. There was considerable force in the kick and the player was down for several minutes. The yellow was shown and then the red.

About 1/2 way into the first half I verbally asked the the head coach to stop commenting on my calls, she responded appropriately and only coache her team verbally through the rest of the game. At the end of the game which ended with a direct free kick just outside the penalty area by Weber. I had about 2 more minutes for the game than the clock on the score board due to the caution issued, and stoppage of play for a Weber injured player (leg cramps). As the wall was being moved back my watch went off indicating the end of the period. I allowed the kick to proceed almost giving card to a weber player for dissent as I was moving the wall back. The goal was scored. I allowed Weber to then kick off and attempt to tie the game, when they lost possession I ended the game. The head coach rushed out screaming and yelling at me I asked her to calm down so we could discuss as I could not even understand what she was screaming, she persisted and I showed the yellow card for caution , she continued. I asked her to calm down and backed away she continued pressing and yelling I indicated she would get a red card and ejection. She stated she "did not care" and continued pressing and was ejected. Her assistant coach pulled her back at that point. |

As the teams were leaving the field at the end of the half, Coach Hammer was aggressively moving towards the Northridge team and accusing the coaches of talking to his players. I tried to intervene but Coach Duckworth of Northridge charged into Coach Hammer. Both coaches began to push and shove each other. Soon both teams and coaches had come together and were pushing and shoving each other. With the help of some of the coaches and police officers the two groups were separated. I informed Coach Hammer that I was ejecting him and Coach Duckworth from the game due to their actions and the subsequent actions of both teams. I'm sure without the aggressive actions of Coach Hammer and Coach Duckworth the teams would have left the field without any issues. |

Jeff,
This is what I saw happen at the end of the first half. I saw Coach Hammer from Weber High yelling at someone from the Northridge coaching staff, I'm not sure who he was yelling at, then out of the corner of my eye I saw an Asst. Coach from Northridge running at Coach Hammer, they started pushing each other and bumping chests. I then got in the middle of the two teams which at this point were getting in each others faces, coaches and players, just trying to separate them from each other. Once the crew got things under control, we talked about what needed to be done, we decided to eject Coach Hammer from Weber and Asst. Coach Duckworth from Northridge. The crew felt that those two were the main cause of the maelae.

Late in the 3rd quarter, Weber had the ball in their own territory. The Weber QB threw a pass that was intercepted by Riverton and returned to the 5 yard line near the Riverton sideline. After the tackle was made (with :31 seconds left in the 3rd quarter), #58 for Weber (Braxton McGraw) threw a punch that hit the Riverton player in the helmet. I threw my flag and came in to prevent anything extra. A few players from each side started getting into it, which was broken up by Brent Wintch, Jaren Page, and myself with a Riverton coach coming on the field to help get his players off the field. I reported the penalty to Bruce Allen, which we discussed for a minute to ensure that everything that clear and clarifying questions he had about what occurred on the play. Bruce informed Coach Hammer for Weber that his player was ejected and we enforced the penalty, giving Riverton 1st and goal on the 2 and 1/2 yard line. |
