Every possession down the court he talks to the officials. At the end of the first quarter he told me that every call is against him. I gave him an warning
Third quarter my partner called a violation against his team in front of him. He chased yelling at my partner to half court and I gave him a technical foul.
A few plays later after a called a foul in his favor he asked me if he could talk to me, I got closer to him still without saying a word and he tells me that "I couldn't wait to do that". He sits on the bench, tell his assistant coach that I'm ridiculous. I gave him another technical ejecting him from the game.
After game was over his assistant coach started to scream at me again and calling me ridiculous as well. |

Early in the game, our officiating crew called several obvious fouls, Coach Naylor made several personal verbal attacks on both referees. He was loud enough, most in the gym could hear. An official warning was given to Coach Naylor after he made more personal verbal attacks in the ensuing minutes.
Later in the game Coach Naylor came onto the court for an injured player. He became upset after being told by the Umpire the injured player had to leave the floor temporarily. He said something I couldn't hear to the Umpire. He then looked at me and said you are terrible. His volume was again as loud as before. He was given a Technical foul.
He shouted 2-3 more verbal personal attacks spread over the next quarter.
As the game progessed to early in the 4th quarter. I was Trail table side when Coach Naylor yelled out "SHIT" loud enough for most on the floor and stands behind to hear. There were numerous players on the bench, his end of the floor and women and children in the stands nearby who would have heard him. He was given a second technical foul and ejected.
Coach Naylor stood in the doorway of the gym and refused to leave the vicinity as requested. He again remained when another coach went to let him know he had to leave the vicinity. |

During the first minutes of the 3rd quarter, the head coach disagreed with a foul against his team and got up and very loudly expressed his angst while pacing his box-trying to draw a lot of attention to himself and his displeasure. This was the first technical foul issued. He was also warned by my partner a few minutes after that to calm down after a foul was called in his favor. Up to this point, we had a foul count in the game of no less than 30 fouls called and they were about even for each team or slightly in his favor.
The second technical came late in the third quarter when he disagreed with a foul against his team and while I came to the table to report the foul, he came onto the court into my face and expressed his displeasure so the whole world could hear it. I listened and let him finish and then calmly told him he needed to leave the visual confines of the court.
At the end of the contest, we had close to 40 fouls-give or take-and we ended very even for both teams. |

GBB player #2 of Desert Hills was ejected upon receiving a second technical foul by myself, the R.
The first technical was charged to #2 by the U (Jake Dalton). Bear River player had the ball underneath the basket when Desert Hills player #2 went for the ball. They went to the floor fighting for it and I blew the whistle (I believe I was going to call a jump ball). As they were coming up from the pile, Desert Hills #2 had the ball and threw it obviously intending to hit the Bear River player who was still on the ground.
Technical foul #2 was given for her player conduct in addressing the official. Bear River player successfully recovered a rebound and made an attempt to progress with play. #2 grabbed a hold of player ankle; I allowed the action to see if she had intended to let go, she did not and BR player was hindered. While moving to report to table, #2 had made a remark to the BR player (indistinguishable) and directed her " to leave her be, plays over"
Upon reporting foul, #2 came up and spoke very frankly, that I had made a "crappy call" whilst amongst players and reporting table. Second T was administered.
In follow-up with Coach of DH team upon request about the Technical, I stepped to speak with Coach near her bench and gave her a quick detail of what had transpired. |

4th qtr, 6:31 left in the game score Merit 8 Dugway 7.
Officials had a Non foul call on a block shot and the Dugway coach profoundly demonstrated her objection verbally and with body language of the non call and received a Technical foul. I was the official who was lead on the play and becoming trail near the bench area and gave her the 1st technical foul.
As I started to face the scorers table to report my technical and as she was attempting to sit on the bench, She then verbally demonstrated her objection to the technical foul and yelled out "That is Bull" where everybody in the gym heard it including my partner who was starting to gather the players to administer the technical.
I then proceeded to give her the 2nd Technical foul and she was ejected.
She then proceeded to leave the gym. |

Early in the game, the assistant coach for SF was verbally complaining about calls and no calls and was asked to refrain from doing this. I told him we would talk to the head coach but not assistants. At various times he would continue to complain about calls and I asked him to stop doing this. Early in the 2nd half he complained again and I gave him an official warning and told my partners he had been warned. I also told the head coach that she needed to take care of him because if he got a technical foul, she would have to sit on the bench. With about 4 or 5 minutes remaining, after I called a foul against SF and was proceeding to report the foul, he jumped up and was yelling at me about the call. I even gave him the stop sign and had warned him numerous times so I called a T on him. He then came out on the floor and got in my face and continued to yell. He was out of control and so I had to eject him from the game. I told the head coach that she would now have to sit for the remainder of the game but acted like she didn't even know the rule about sitting. She said that she was going to report me (us) and I said to go ahead. The coach sat but was up and down over the next minute or so and was not sitting per the rule. By then with only a minute or so I decided not to embarrass her by telling her to sit and was hoping one of my partners would have done that, which they didn't. I felt like I gave the assistant coach numerous opportunities to stay in the game but he was not going to cooperate. |

Player had been throwing excessive fouls all game, nothing worthy of an intentional or flagrant. During a rebound of a free-throw she threw her right elbow twice into a shooting team player's neck. She was out of the game with an injury. I talked to my partner and we agreed to call a flagrant foul. Player was ejected from the game. |

I had just reported a foul on the shot against Lehi to the score-keepers table. I retained my position near the table with my back to Lehi's bench. Both coaches had been very loud in expressing their opinions during the whole game so it was no surprise when Lehi's coach got upset about the foul against his team. During the free-throw he said "You are probably the two worst referees I have ever played with." When the shot was finished my partner Garrett gave the coach a technical with no official warning and advised him to sit down on his bench. The coach didn't get another technical so he was not ejected. |

Approximately 6 minutes left in the third quarter Uintah’s assistant coach was quite loud saying you need to make that call. She continued to say it until I told her that she was an assistant coach and that i didn’t want to hear anymore out of her. She continued so I issued an indirect technical foul to the head coach. After the free throws we went back up the court toward Uintah’s bench. The head coach for Uintah’s was right beside me stating that I needed to call that down here repeatedly. I issued her a Direct technical foul. She then came out on the court towards me and continued saying that calls needed to be called. I Then issued her another direct technical foul which resulted in the ejection. |

The player ejected committed a flagrant foul towards the end of the 2nd quarter. After speaking to my partner about it we didn't notice anything building between the players up to that point as it had been a very slow paced game with very few fouls.
Green River was bringing the ball down the floor and I was the trail official. Just after crossing midcourt and getting to my position I noticed #32 running across the top of the key at full speed. It appeared she was trying to get into position. She angled towards the endline where I believe it was #14 from Green River was standing. The is when #32 lowered her shoulder and leveled the GR player knocking her to the ground very hard. The best way to convey how hard she hit her would be to compare it to football player hitting an unsuspecting opponent. This was not an accident. There was no play as the ball was nowhere near their location and it appeared to be an act of frustration on #32's part.
Play was stopped and a flagrant technical was called and the player was ejected. |

Uintah |
Valton Mortenson |
This documentation is for the Uintah vs Spanish Fork girls sophomore basketball game on February 6th at Uintah High School. The game started with Spanish Fork committing three quick fouls. The Spanish Fork coach calmed down his girls and they stopped fouling. Uintah started fouling and we were in the one and one before the end of the first quarter. In the first quarter, my partner Wayne Gingel, issued a warning to the Uintah coach about arguing calls and the warning was noted in the book. In the second quarter the fouling continued with Uintah reaching the double bonus first and then Spanish Fork reached it near the end of the half.
At half time, Wayne talked with me and told me that he heard the Uintah coach call me by name and argue a call. I didn't hear him do this. Wayne said if he did this again he would give the coach a technical and that I should administer a technical if called out by the coach. I said I would watch for this.
In the third quarter or maybe the beginning of the fourth Uintah's coach came out on the court at least 10 feet and started arguing a call. I immediately gave the coach a technical foul. We shot the one and one for the fouled Spanish Fork girl and then the technical for the coach's arguing. The fans on the Uintah side were not happy and continued to ride the referees the rest of the game. The head coach for Uintah remained seated for the rest of the game coaching his girls. The other Uintah coaches complained about calls, but we let the game continue. The foul count for the entire second half of the game was fairly even the whole half and both teams were in the double bonus with about 3 minutes left in the game. Spanish Fork lead the entire second half by about 4 to 6 points.
With three seconds left in the game, I called a pushing foul on a Uintah girl as she knocked a Spanish Fork player to the ground. Uintah's head coach got up off the bench (he already had a warning and 1st technical) and came onto the court. Wayne came and talked with me and said we could give a second technical for leaving the bench and entering the court to argue a call. This would result in an ejection and the coach wouldn't be able to coach the next game. I told Wayne that I didn't want to do this and that we should shoot the free throws and go home. We shot the free throws, and the game ended with a Spanish Fork victory by 6 points.
As soon as the game buzzer sounded, Uintah's head coach stormed the court shouting that we were the worst referees he had ever seen. He got in my face and screamed, "You're terrible!" The JV girls coach tried to restrain him and said he should leave. Wayne and I were standing near mid-court about 2/3 of the way from both benches. The coaches had to come at least
30 feet to yell at us face to face. I said that's enough and gave the coach another technical. He again yelled at us and the JV coach was able to persuade him to leave the court. The JV coach, Kristin Christopherson, was trying to calm the head coach and did not yell at the officials.
Wayne and I made sure the technical fouls and warning were recorded in the book. Wayne said the coach had gotten right in my face and that I had done the right thing. I tried to find out what the head coaches name was from the scorers table and they said it was Hofert. Wayne and I then went and found the Uintah Athletic Director and told him what happened. He told us to file a report and he would look into the matter.
When Wayne and I returned to the locker room together, Kaylon, Jared and Lori were there after refereeing the varsity boys game. We asked them what we should do. They said we needed to call Mike Davis and tell him. I called Mike from the locker room and he said to go home and write up what happened. He said he would find out what we should do after that.
Both Wayne and I believe we called a good game. The Spanish Fork coach didn't get on the referees. The Uintah coach argued many calls and incited his fan base. Both teams were in the double bonus in both halves, and fouls were called as they occurred.
