First UHSAA Dual Wrestling Championships

Ticketing & Financial Policy

  • This is a UHSAA ticketed event. Student tickets are $5.00 and adult tickets are $8.00. Seniors (65 and older) are $5.00. Children 5 and under are free. Only UHSAA passes are accepted. Tickets are valid for one day and one location only.
  • Host schools must pick up tickets from the UHSAA office
  • Presale tickets are available by contacting the UHSAA.
  • Maximum allowed costs for hosts are $800. Schools are encouraged to stay under this cap. This is not a guaranteed maximum. Claims must itemize expenses.
  • Officials’ fees and travel costs are not included in the $800. These will be covered by the UHSAA.

Contest Start Times for First Round & Quarterfinals

  • The default start time is 5pm. If all 4 schools at a location agree to change the start time they may request to change the start time by contacting the UHSAA.

Host Schools

  • Each team will be allowed to weigh-in as many as two wrestlers per weight class.
  • To be eligible to compete on Thursday, January 28, a wrestler must have weighed in on Wednesday, January 27 at the weight class they are planning to compete.

Tournament Procedure

  • Teams paired in the tournament bracket shall compete in a dual meet per NFHS wrestling rules including the tie breaking procedure. The team that prevails in the dual meet shall advance in the bracket.
  • Each school may weigh-in 2 wrestlers per weight class. Only wrestlers that weigh in on Wednesday at region sites will be allowed to compete on Thursday at Maverik Center.
  • Weigh-in and entries in the tournament shall be governed by NFHS wrestling rules. Particular attention should be given to Rule 11 dealing with team advancement tournaments.
  • This is a postseason event; therefore matches wrestled by an individual in the Dual State Championship Tournament do not count against the regular season contest limit.  
  • UHSAA State Championship trophies will be awarded to the first and second place schools. The tournament is a team event and no individual awards will be presented.

Maverik Center Information

  • Team buses should drop off in the back lot.
  • No outside food or drink is permitted in the Maverik Center.
  • Doors open to the public at 4pm. The ticket office will be open earlier in the day.
  • Each team will be provided a changing/dressing area. School is responsible for any damage caused in their area.
  • Teams should listen for public address announcements for where to report to weigh ins and the coaches meeting.
  • Coaches should be prepared to provide any medical supplies necessary to cover scratches, abrasions, etc. that are required by designated tournament medical personnel for protection of the wrestler.  The UHSAA will not provide supplies to wrestlers, please make preparations.

Cheerleaders

  • No cheerleaders will be allowed on the floor until championship final matches. Only eight cheerleaders are allowed at mat-side during final matches. Cheerleaders must have tickets to enter. Schools can be reimbursed for up to eight cheerleaders.

Admission of Teams and Team Personnel

  • Each participating school will be issued only four (4) floor access passes. Wrestlers competing in the tournament will receive a stamp as they enter that will admit them for the rest of the day. All others must have a ticket or pass and will be admitted through the ticket office.  School trainers (ATC) will be admitted if listed on the approved trainers’ list.  To be listed, certified athletic trainers need to contact Lisa Walker at lisa.walker@nebo.edu.

  • 3:30 pm – Weigh In                                                   - 5:00 pm – National Anthem
  • 3:45 pm – Coaches Meeting                                    - 5:03 pm – Semifinals Begin
  • 4:00 pm – Doors open to public                              - 7:30 pm – Finals Begin
